My Etsy Shop!

Okay, I did it! I finally opened a shop on etsy. For those of you who know me, you know that I am addicted to etsy...like I may need rehab one day, addicted. I love it, I wish I had thought of creating such a site-but I didn't so instead I spend HOURS browsing around and looking at all the handmade stuff that etsy has to offer. Anyway, I have made my own "stuff" for a while now and have often thought of opening a little store myself but never really gave it much thought. Then, people started asking me to make things for them and how much do I charge, etc? Keith said you might as well open a shop on esty seeing as how you are on that site so much anyway. That is really all I needed to hear and the shop is now open!!! Thanks to Jennisa for creating such an adorbale banner for me! It is not completely stocked yet, but I have hairbows and tutus to photograph and they will be uploaded soon. Please stop by and have a look for yourself, and maybe you too will get addicted to etsy;)

Meet McKMuffin

I just wanted to put a face with a name for the baby I have been asking your prayers for. He is still in SVT (which is a really long name for irregular and VERY fast heartrate and a heart rhythm that originates in the wrong spot on the heart.) It is very dangerous and he needs our prayers. Please get on your knees and pray for this sweet baby's body to be healed once again.

Stellan

Please take a moment and pray for this family. Jennifer (McKMama) is one of my favorite bloggers and her son Stellan was diagnosed with a fatal heart condition while still in her womb. Miraculously, his heart was healed and he was born a perfectly healthy baby boy. Unfortunately his tachycardia (sp?) has returned and his heartrate cannot be stabilized. Please visit their blog and say a special prayer for this sweet baby, Stellan.

Watch out Shamu...Here we Come!

This past week was every teacher's favorite time of year. No, it was not summer break- wise guy's....it is an even more looked forward to break from school than those measly 8 weeks in the summer that everyone that isn't a teacher calls 3 months. We wish we had a 3 month break, but I personally enjoy every bit of the 8 weeks so no complaints here:) Anyhoo, I am getting off track.

It was SPRING BREAK, whoo hoo! And while the days of packing up the car and heading down to South Padre are long gone, KB and I decided to take our little man on a road trip all our own. That's right folks, we did something even crazier than jam one car full of college kids and head down to the border, we packed up a 1 year old and took him on a 4, make that 5, make that 6 hour road trip to San Antonio! Actually, the trip did not take all 6 hours (we made a couple stops, and even ate lunch with Keith's grandparents who have not seen B since he was a teeny baby). But, boy was he (and we) ready to get our tired behinds to SA already! We stayed in a really nice hotel right on the River Walk and it was fun to just walk down and go to dinner, etc. The first night we arrived, we had forgotten that it was St. Patricks Day and man was the RW packed! We made the mistake of taking the stroller and it proved to be a REAL pain trying to maneuver that thing through the green haired, green beer drinking peeps. We definitely learned our lesson and decided against the stroller for the second night and instead I used by most favoritist sling and it worked out really well.

I also wore the sling for most of our trip to Sea World. It was easier than getting him in and out of the stroller 10 billion times. We still took the stroller to tote around all our "gear", and he did ride in it a little. Boston LOVED Sea World! We went to almost every show, and I was surprised at how well they kept his attention. He would dance to the music and his eyes got so big when he saw the whales especially. We also spent some time at the Dolphin feeding tank-where, you guessed it: you can buy a tray of fish and hand feed it to the Dolphins! Isn't that amazing!?! We didn't actually feed them, but Boston did lay his little belly on the edge of the tank and splash in the water as the Dolphins swam by, right in front of us!! It was so cool and trust me, B was just as excited as me...I think;)

After a long day a Sea World and some late nights out, we were all happy to be home in our own beds (well at least B was, Keith and I definitely miss that great King bed at the hotel). It was a super-fun trip and we will be going back again. Enjoy the photos!

At dinner the first night we arrived.

Finishing a snack before heading in to Sea World.

Boston in awe of the whales.
Wow!

Boston waving "bye" as we left the Shamu show.

What happened to Justin, Beyonce, & Britney?!

While driving to work the other day, I realized that my CD player (6 disc changer, yeah!) had been overtaken by children's music!!! I have always enjoyed my 20 minute commute to work because it gave me time to wake up, prepare for my day, think, and of course SING! The car is the only place I can really carry a tune :)- at least that is what I tell myself as I am riding alone. When I began taking Boston to the sitter every morning on my way to work I realized that while I am sure he loves listening to my Sexy Back CD, he would probably find his groove more naturally listening to some happy children's music (and more appropriate I am sure!) So, I did what any good Mama would do and I changed out the CD's to a selection preferred by the half pint in my rearview mirror (I love that guy!) I must, because there is no way I would let Justin Timberlake go for just anyone.

That being said, I had a real eye-opening experience the other morning on my way to work (after I had dropped B-Man at the sitters). While riding alone, I found myself belting it out to the Backyardigans CD like it was a Top 40 hit that I had heard 2 million times on the radio (I probably have heard it that much actually). After one or two songs, I caught myself. Hello, 'used to be cool-now singing children songs with no children around girl' I said to myself. What happened to Justin, Beyonce, and Britney?! I mean, even for a Pre-K teacher I looked pretty lame. I think I will have to keep at least one of my favs in the changer at all times for emergency purposes...

And now for Boston's listening enjoyment...and believe me, and likes the tunes:)

This is some of what we listen to everyday...and obviously it is pretty catchy because I find myself singing it A LOT!

P.S. I have even caught Keith singing a couple times! How life changes when you have kiddies!

Naptime mischief...

This afternoon I put Boston down for his usual nap. When he awoke a couple hours later, I could hear him in his crib laughing and playing. I decided to leave him in for a bit longer to straighten up my bed (Yes, I took a nap too!!). All of the sudden the laughs got quiet and I heard a loud banging/scratching sound coming from his room. I immediately looked towards the video monitor on my nightstand and all I could see was the picture swinging back and forth like someone was shaking the camera that is mounted to the wall above the crib. I also saw Boston's face staring directly up into the camera in awe! Well, guess what?! Someone was shaking that silly camera, and it just so happened to by my 13 month old mischief maker! Boston had slid his hand through a slat in the back of his crib and reached back as far as he could behind the crib and grabbed the camera cord and was pulling it back and forth. I immediately yelled his name and ran in to the room and said "No, no!". When he saw me, he showed not an ounce of fear! In fact he let go of the cord and fell back in to his bed and laughed hysterically! He thought he was so funny...and smart. And I must admit, I agree that he is quite the smarty pants :) I just cannot help but think, if he is doing this now-what will he do when he is 2, or 5, or 1o?! Yikes!
